River Walk hotel unveils spa makeover and luxurious new treatments
After being closed for the past two years due to the pandemic and renovations, the Spa at Hotel Contessa has finally reopened. With revitalized spaces, new spa products and technologies, and unique new services, the timely reopening makes it a perfect place to stop in and rest between Fiesta activities.
"We are thrilled to reopen the spa with the new renovations and services that we've worked on over the last two years," says spa director Gigi Guiette in a release. "We've curated unique, high quality, luxury treatments to help our clients relax and rejuvenate during their time with us and we're looking forward to having visitors back in the spa."
Located on the rooftop level of the scenic River Walk hotel, the Spa at Hotel Contessa is open for hotel guests and outside visitors alike. Renovations have made way for four treatment rooms, retail space, and a relaxation for R&R before and after treatments.
The spa’s new retail space features Ayurvedic products from Shankara, an organic and cruelty-free skincare company. The ancient Ayurvedic approach centers around the theory that the five elements (water, fire, earth, air and space) are integral to general health and wellness. Air denotes the concept of movement in the universe, fire represents energy, water represents cohesion and fluidity, earth is structure and solidity, and space allows all of the other elements to unfold out of consciousness.
New massage treatments also feature Shankara products, including services centered around each of the five elements, such as Energizing Journey (Earth), an 80-minute service promoting stress release. Additional new body treatments include a detox body wrap treatment, detoxifying mud massage, citrus body glow, and cupping, while new facial treatments like Gua Sha glow and Bye-bye Breakouts ensure that guests will leave glowing from head to toe. Of course, if classic treatments are more to your taste, the spa still offers both Swedish and hot stone massages.
The Spa at Hotel Contessa also introduced new programming, such as sound bowl sessions on the hotel’s rooftop pool deck and Sunday morning yoga sessions. Led by adaptive therapeutic yoga teacher Caitlyn Garrison, the next sound bowl session will take place Friday, April 1 at 6:30 pm. Sound bowl sessions are free and open to the public while space allows, and hotel guests and visitors can call the spa directly at 210-298-8038 to reserve space.
Hotel Contessa is located at 306 W. Market St. Spa treatments can be booked online, and more information about upcoming sound baths and yoga sessions can be found here.
