Top chicken spot flocks to Northeast San Antonio for second location
A top San Antonio spot for chicken is roosting in Northeast San Antonio. An employee for Al Carbon Pollos Asados confirms a new location of the popular eatery is aiming to open by the end of September at 13835 Nacogdoches Rd.
The new Al Carbon Pollos Asados will have the same menu, anchored by whole and half chicken served with rice, onion, chiles toreados, lime, and salsa. Other charcoal grilled items include short ribs and beef fajitas. All options come with corn tortillas.
In addition to chicken, the kitchen also serves a trio of burgers, including a classic version with yellow cheese; the Monterrey with chiles, ham, and guacamole; and the Salchiburger with ham and sausage. Dessert options such as cake, cookies, and empanadas round off the menu.
For drinks, the restaurant will offer a variety of nonalcoholic options like Mexican coke, can soda, ice tea, horchata, and lemonade.
For its second outpost, Al Carbon owner Alfredo Garza took over the location of Tommy’s Restaurant on Nacogdoches Road. Garza opened his first pollos asados shop, Don Carbon Pollos Asados, in May 2018 at 547 Culebra Rd.
Garza was forced to change the name in August 2018 after being sued by an El Paso restaurant with a similar name and menu. Judging by the quantity and quality of the online reviews, the midstream switch didn’t hurt business.
