Terry Black's Barbecue reveals opening date for San Antonio restaurant
Terry Black's is coming soon to San Antonio
San Antonio barbecue fans can start getting fired up: The city's first Terry Black's Barbecue will open November 17, bringing the famous Texas barbecue restaurant's smoked meats, traditional sides, and signature black frozen margaritas to the Broadway corridor.
According to a release, the restaurant will open to the public at 10:30 am November 17 at 2102 Broadway, near Pearl.
The San Antonio outpost will be the eighth location for the family-owned brand, which was founded in Austin in 2014 by siblings Christina, Michael, and Mark Black. They named the restaurant after their father, Terry. A New Braunfels location opened in September.
“San Antonio is one of the state’s most celebrated food cities, we are thrilled to add our family recipes, time-honored smoking techniques, and genuine Texas hospitality to this city,” says Mike Black, co-founder of Black Family Hospitality, in the release. “We look forward to welcoming San Antonio locals and visitors to gather over great barbecue.”
The menu will feature Terry Black's signature slow-smoked meats, including sliced brisket and beef and pork ribs, along with traditional sides such as mac and cheese and potato salad. Desserts will include banana pudding and peach cobbler. The new location is also expected to serve the brand's black frozen margarita, chocolate pudding, and pecan pie.
In addition to dine-in service, the restaurant will launch Uber Eats delivery, OpenTable reservations, and catering requests on opening day.
Guests can also book The Terry Black's Experience, a one-hour behind-the-scenes tour that includes a look at the barbecue pits, an opportunity to meet the pitmasters, and a barbecue meal at a reserved table.
Terry Black's Barbecue will be open daily, serving its full menu throughout operating hours. Hours are 10:30 am-9:30 pm Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 am-10 pm Friday and Saturday.
The San Antonio restaurant will be the first Black Family Hospitality concept to open at the Broadway property, with additional hospitality concepts planned for future phases of the development.
As CultureMap previously reported, the larger project from Black Family Hospitality will include a boutique hotel and a Roman-inspired bathhouse with two hot spas, two cold spas, cold plunges, and a linear spa. The bathhouse has been initially called "The Depths" in state filings, although the final name is subject to change.
