YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul has leveraged his social media infamy into viable businesses, and now he's heading into the food industry.
On October 17, Paul announced that he had partnered with Pasadena-based chain Dog Haus as a board member, franchise owner, and advisor. As part of the deal, he will open 25 locations in the United States, including four in Texas. One will be in in San Antonio.
The brand is familiar to Alamo City. The company operates one location at 20907 Stone Oak Pkwy. and another at 11710 Quincy Lee Dr., which is temporarily closed. It is still being determined whether the Paul franchise will be in a new building or if he is taking over ownership of an existing storefront.
Dog Haus is a sports bar concept that primarily serves a menu of hot dogs and beer, plus other pub grub (including plant-based offerings) and a full cocktail menu.
As part of the hoopla surrounding Paul's investment in Dog Haus, the new locations will aim to open by November 15, the date of Paul's "Fight of the Century" against Mike Tyson, taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. All locations will be airing the fight (which will stream on Netflix) in honor of the partnership.
"I'm all in," said Paul via a release. "I've been a fan of Dog Haus for years and I'm fired up to push the limits and help take this amazing brand to a whole new level. I'm jumping in their corner and excited to introduce their food and experience to everyone across the country!"
Paul, 27, built a significant fan following as a YouTube influencer and turned professional in boxing four years ago. He has won nine of 10 fights with six knockouts against mostly undistinguished opponents. His only loss came last year to Tommy Fury, half brother of WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury.
