A new Beacon Hill brunch spot cracks San Antonio restaurant news

Humo Eatery is now bringing daytime eats to Beacon Hill.
San Antonio's bar and restaurant scene is warming up after a cold snap with a new Beacon Hill brunch spot and more steak and cocktails in Boerne. Elsewhere, a West Side coffee house has an arty new identity, and a viral creator’s new cookbook is taking root. Read on for more essential San Antonio dining news.
Openings
A new daytime cafe has quietly opened at 1719 Blanco Rd. in Beacon Hill. Humo Eatery has taken over the former home of SoHill Cafe with a menu that features classic brunch fare like crab cake Benedicts and buttermilk pancakes, lunch offerings like an asada-stuffed burrito gigante, and specialty coffee and matcha drinks. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 8 am-3 pm. A request for further details was not answered in time for publication.
Pokeworks is continuing its San Antonio takeover with an upcoming outpost at 4343 Medical Dr. State regulatory filings list the location as a Pokeworks/ Pizzaworks dual concept, but it's unclear if it will actually use that name. A rep for the poke says the company is not affiliated with the pizza half of the operation and has no plans to get into the pie game. At one time, franchisee Agustin Guzman operated two Pieology restaurants in the Valley, but it’s unclear if he still has stakes.
Boerne’s dining scene got a glow-up over the winter with the opening of two new concepts. The Kendall Restaurant took over the former home of Peggy’s on the Green after it shuttered in November 2025, serving a steakhouse menu of filets, burgers, and classic appetizers. For after-dinner drinks, upstart cocktail bar Twelve to Twelve is now pouring at 1491 S. Main St. The hours? Tuesday through Saturday, noon to midnight, of course.
San Antonio’s Merit Coffee is continuing its Austin takeover with a fourth location opening in Austin’s Mueller development on February 14. "Austin has embraced the Merit café experience from day one," said Bill Ellis, CEO of Merit Coffee, in a press release.

Fife & Farro in Pearl’s Pullman Market has launched a pizza collaboration series with a portion of the sales benefitting the San Antonio Food Bank.
