Casual teriyaki chain doubles down on San Antonio with 2 new eateries

Mr. Teriyaki is doubling its San Antonio footprint.
Popular Japanese fast casual chain Mr. Teriyaki is set to hit San Antonio with a one-two punch. While still finishing out construction on its third outpost at 12922 Potranco Rd. #134, the Japanese fast-casual chain has filed state paperwork to renovate a former boxing gym in the Colonnade III shopping center at 9951 IH-10.
The chain is a relative newcomer to Alamo City. The first location debuted near North Star Mall in January 2023, quickly following up with a second restaurant on Highway 151 in summer 2024.
Mr. Teriyaki teased the third location in May via an Instagram post. Although it has since gone dark on social media, it said San Antonians should “get ready for sizzling teriyaki by [the] end of 2025.”

While a request for further information was not returned by publication time, a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation gives a few clues as to what’s in store. The 3,954 square foot space will be similar in scale to its already opened restaurants. The current timeline, subject to change, states that the buildout will be completed by April 2026.
Although Mr. Teriyaki bills itself as a Japanese restaurant, it has plenty of pan-Asian flavors. The main attraction is teriyaki bowls served with rice and a small salad, but the spot also dishes out sushi rolls and Chinese-American appetizers like egg rolls and crab rangoon.
Mr. Teriyaki also has an extensive menu of Taiwanese boba teas in flavors like coconut, passion fruit, strawberry, and lemon-kumquat. Other refreshers include avocado milk, a mango-sago shake, and a pineapple colada smoothie with jellies.
Assumably, the new units will also continue the chain’s minimalist aesthetic. Although the two open restaurants are not identical, they have a similar feel with warm woods, greenery installations, and industrial-style dining chairs.
