Hopdoddy stacks up new North San Antonio burger bar

Hopdoddy Burger Bar is opening its third San Antonio restaurant.
Austin-based chain Hopdoddy Burger Bar is hitting a triple in San Antonio. The gourmet burger pioneer is opening its third Alamo City restaurant at 11267 Huebner Rd. on the North Side in mid-February.
After finding success at The Rim and The Vineyard shopping centers, Hopdoddy began renovating a former Pei Location in the summer of 2025. The company has not been able to pin down an exact opening date just yet, but says everything is on track for the winter debut.
“Continuing to grow in the San Antonio area is an exciting next step for Hopdoddy,” said Jeff Chandler, CEO of Hopdoddy Burger Bar, in a release. “San Antonio continues to be an important part of our growth in Texas, and we’re excited to bring another better burger space in the area where guests can enjoy the creativity and hospitality that define our brand.”
The new San Antonio outpost will follow Hopdoddy’s winning formula of making “better burgers” from an assortment of proteins like Angus and Kobe beef, chicken, Ahi tuna, and turkey. Diners can expect the following fan favorites.
- The Cadillac Burger: Half-pound Wagyu beef topped with Swiss cheese, steakhouse bacon, crispy fried onions, steak sauce, truffle aïoli, roasted tomato, and arugula on a house-baked bun
- The Wagyu Smash: Double Wagyu beef smash patties stacked with American cheese, shaved onions, pickled jalapeños, and HD secret sauce.
- Crispy tenders: Hand-breaded chicken tenders, tossed with sauce choices like Buffalo, hot honey, or Afterburn.
- Parmesan truffle fries: Hand-cut Fries tossed with truffle oil, Parmesan, and chives, and served with truffle aïoli.
- Hot honey and sage Brussels sprouts: Crispy Brussels sprout leaves tossed with hot honey sauce and fried sage.
As with all locations, the new Hopdoddy will also be dishing out the charitable Goodnight / Good Cause Burger made with a grass-fed, pasture-raised beef patty topped with Tillamook Cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, jalapeños, caffeinated barbecue sauce, Doddy mayo, lettuce, and tomato. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Tuned In Program, a grant-giving organization for local musicians.

San Antonio guests can also expect a full bar. Although the restaurant was named after hops and still features a large selection of Texas craft beers, its margaritas, like the Doble Fina with a black lava salt rim, have become even more famous. The dessert menu has a little bit of kick, too, courtesy of boozy shakes like the double chocolate brownie made with custard blended with dark chocolate, gluten-friendly brownies, and Frangelico hazelnut liqueur.
Hopdoddy was founded in 2010 by Austin industry vets Guy Villavaso, Larry Foles, Chuck Smith, and Larry Perdido, quickly becoming one of Texas’ biggest restaurant phenomena. The chain currently has 47 locations and counting across Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana.
