Downtown wine bar and mini crime wave steal San Antonio dining news

Tia's Taco Hut is opening a 13th location.
All across San Antonio, bar and restaurant owners might be hankering for a stiff drink this week. Two locally owned businesses — Wetmore Beach House and El Pacífico Eivo — were victims of petty crime. Unfortunately, a planned wine bar in the downtown Savoy Building won't be open yet to help calm their nerves.
Openings
According to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation paperwork, local chain Tia's Taco Hut is planning its 13th location. The new outpost of Lisa and Benny Costello's fast-casual spot should settle by early 2026 at 3643 Evans Rd., if construction goes according to schedule.
Call it the "decade of downtown" deux. Julián Castro's initiative to revive San Antonio's central core is picking back up with a rapid clip of openings. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listing, an unnamed "wine bar concept" is being developed in the Savoy Building at 122 E. Houston #102. Renovation is scheduled to begin in late March and end in late August.
Other news and notes
San Antonio's restaurant community continues to struggle with a rash of petty crime. Days after a dine-and-dasher struck Hot Joy, El Pacífico Eivoput a "customer" on blast for allegedly pulling the same stunt. A video of the incident accompanied the Facebook post. "If you know her, tell her to pay," the restaurant wrote in Spanish. "If she doesn't have money, she can ask, and we'll gladly give her something."
Alamo City's candid camera also caught a bungling burglar at Wetmore Beach House. Surveillance video shows the alleged thief crawling through the business and attempting to pry open a coin-operated machine. Unbeknownst to him, the bar manager was working late and immediately called 911. The suspect was apprehended, and no staff members were injured.
Downtown's The Golden Goose is launching an industry night with "aggressively priced drinks." Starting March 25, guests can enjoy food specials, karaoke, and deals like $5 craft beers, $10 bottles of soju, and dollar shots of Kentucky Deluxe whiskey.
