2 openings and an upcoming Trader Joe’s ring up San Antonio dining news

More Mandarin orange chicken is coming to San Antonio.
As San Antonio prepares to host the NCAA final four and our upcoming Tastemaker Awards, this week’s food news brings word of two upstart Asian concepts and a new Trader Joe’s. Meanwhile, a Southtown restaurant is taking a bite out of crime.
Openings
Fans of Two Buck Chuck are in for fresh luck. According to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings, Trader Joe’s is opening its third area store at 11745 IH 10 W #745. If the construction stays on schedule, the almost 15,000-square-foot grocer will be ready for frozen soup dumplings by December.
Speaking of dumplings, a new restaurant in Northwest San Antonio is now serving dim sum and Cantonese fare. Tasty Modern Asian Kitchen quietly opened at 9502 I-10, the former home of 210 Ceviche. While dim sum is only available until 3 pm daily, the restaurant offers a vast menu encompassing everything from Beijing duck to a jellyfish and pig trotter salad.
Gen Korean BBQ House is doubling its Alamo City footprint. TDLR records indicate construction of a second location will soon be underway at 7514 S. New Braunfels Ave. #3A. The buildout, set to be completed in December, comes less than a year after the chain debuted in the city.
