4 restaurant and bar openings including witchy coffee spill into San Antonio
To quote the eternal Aaliyah, San Antonio's always buzzy dining scene moves "back, back, forth, and forth." This week, a ton of new hospitality projects are ready to make their move to the dance floor.
Openings and closings
One of San Antonio's most ambitious hospitality projects is finally taking shape. Elsewhere Too owner Terrin Fuhrmann took to social media to announce the groundbreaking of his latest concept on October 24. The bar at 4507 N. Loop 1604 West Access Rd ups the ante on the original River Walk Elsewhere, adding selfie-made features like a greenhouse pavilion and a 52-foot Ferris wheel. The spot is currently slated to debut in June 2025.
Another spooky coffee house is haunting San Antonio. In late September, Brewjeria Coffee quietly opened on 1900 Pleasanton Rd. Owner Julian Cavazos serves various espresso drinks, including seasonal sips like pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin cold foam Americanos. The drinks with ghostly forms piped into the liquid should be a hit on Instagram feeds.
Dallas-based ice cream shop Paciugo Gelato Caffe hopes to make a splash on the River Walk. A coming soon sign has popped up at 111 W. Crockett St., the former home of Ben & Jerry's. The chain currently operates one location in The Quarry, replacing its original fire-damaged Lincoln Heights outpost.
Staple snack shop Alamo City Addiction is getting out of the game. The spot shared that it will close on December 22 after 11 years of serving mangonadas, Piccadillys, and other San Antonio obsessions. The Facebook post gave no reason for the closure, only remarking that the decision was "not made lightly."
Swig is moving into the former home of fellow syrupy traveler Sonic. According to the company, the Utah soda shop is opening a new location at 3521, a site briefly used by like-minded Utah concept Fiiz. The chain specializes in "dirty sodas," cream-laden drinks made famous by Olivia Rodrigo and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
