San Antonio brewery's most popular beers hit supermarket shelves
Cheers to this: Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery's most popular beers are now available at Central Market in San Antonio.
This is the first time that beer from the top San Antonio brewery has been available in bottles. Head brewer Les Locke says bottled beer, which has always been a goal, allows Southerleigh to be in grocery stores and have a presence at bars and restaurants that don't offer draft beer.
The brewery's popular Gold Export Lager and Texas Uncommon Ale are available now at Central Market. "Those two beers are two of our flagship beers," Locke says. "They've been with us since day one — they're approachable, they're balanced. We find that they reach across all bounds of craft beer."
Austin-based firm Guerilla Suit designed the packaging, which Locke says represents the Southerleigh aesthetic while honoring the history of the Pearl. The brewpub — located in the former Pearl Brewery space — features a 15-barrel system and up to 21 beers on tap; its well-rounded house brews complement chef Jeff Balfour's hearty American cuisine.
Look for Southerleigh's Darwinian IPA and a rotating seasonal beer in bottles by the end of the year. Southerleigh also plans to be on H-E-B shelves soon.
