Beer-obsessed pub opens new downtown San Antonio outpost
Another watering hole has tapped downtown. On May 7, Yard House will open the doors of its new River Walk location, marking its second outpost in San Antonio.
Yard House is the successful chain of gastropubs from Darden Restaurants, the company that operates Eddie V's and LongHorn Steakhouse, among others.The restaurant is well known for its focus on craft beer, which is delivered to patrons perfectly chilled via miles of overhead piping from a temperature-controlled keg room.
Over the past 20 years, 63 Yard House locations have sprouted up across the country, each of which claims its own unique beer list. Like The Shops at La Cantera location, the new spot will feature 130 taps, including selections from local heavyweights like Alamo, Branchline, Freetail, Southerleigh, and Busted Sandal.
"San Antonio's beer scene is rather dynamic, so it was important for us to seek out the best local and regional brewers to highlight the great beers being made," said Gregory Howard, Yard House beverage manager, in a release. "Our new River Walk location will also have 18 new draft offerings that have never before been on any Yard House beer menu."
One of the standout features of Yard House is the Chalkboard Series, a rotating monthly list of limited releases and seasonal taps. When the River Walk location opens in May, guests will be greeted with a wide range of specials, from Houston's Karbach Kentucky Habit to the pineapple sculpin from Ballast Point.
Yard House also boasts a full menu of appetizers, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, tacos, and globally inspired entrees. There is no shortage of gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly options, with an entire menu section dedicated to items made with Gardein, the popular meat substitute. Wash it down with a beer or craft cocktail.
Serving lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks, Yard House opens at 11 am and is open until at least 1 am daily.
