Love is in the air
9 best San Antonio restaurants for romantic Valentine's Day dining
We don’t mean to put you in a panic, but Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. If you don’t want to be in the doghouse, it’s time to make a reservation. Dazzle your darling with dinner and a spa package or make memories with a creative farm-to-table feast. But don’t delay — the clock for the big day is ticking away.
18 Oaks
Pamper your beloved this year at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa. Start with a decadent dinner featuring phyllo-wrapped duck confit with poached pears, a Niman Ranch filet with butter poached lobster tail, and a raspberry macaroon napoleon. Then head to the Lantana Spa for some well-deserved R and R. Both are offered February 14-15. Dinner is $75 per guest with an additional $325 add on per person for the spa package.
Clementine
Orange you glad its Valentine’s Day? Judging by its elegant $85 fixed price feast, this sunny neighborhood gem certainly is. Guests will swoon over imaginative dishes like Great White oysters with Champagne Jell-o, caviar, and tangerines; Wagyu beef with a potato and cheese terrine, parsley, and bordelaise sauce; and a balsamic mini pavlova with très romantique rose cream. Wine pairings can be added for $35-$50 per guest. Dinner hours are 5-9 pm.
Davila’s BBQ
This Seguin smokehouse is branching out from brisket for a special V-Day treat. From 4-9 pm, couples can enjoy a local steak dinner for two complete with a loaded baked potato and grilled vegetables for only $29.99. Homestyle sides and tasty desserts will be available for purchase. We recommend the Big Red cake for a truly Texan celebration.
Dorrego’s
The Hotel Valencia’s signature restaurant will make sure sparks will fly with an amorous Argentine menu available 5-10 pm for $65 per person. The dinner includes a shrimp empanada, salad or soup, a beefy ribeye or lighter fettuccine with shrimp, and a choice of sweetheart desserts — either a strawberry torte or a chocolate crumb cake paired with chocolate-covered strawberries.
The General Public
Sometimes, it’s the little things that make a difference. Although this La Cantera restaurant is not offering a special menu for the holiday, it is offering a special treat between February 14-17. Each of-age guest will receive a complimentary glass of Champagne and a Ms. Chocolatier artisan chocolate with the purchase of a meal. We think that’s pretty sweet.
Matinee Cafe
Express your love for your sweetheart and your community at the new Alamo Heights location of this San Antonio mainstay. The $30 Valentine’s prix fixe features an eclectic mix of Lebanese, American, and Italian fare including pork souvlaki, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken fried steak. And a $1 of each meal goes to the San Antonio Food Bank. The philanthropic menu is available 11 am-9 pm.
Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar
This San Antonio newcomer offers a little something for everyone during February. From February 12-13, invite friends to enjoy a $35 dinner with choices like arugula salad with shaved root veggies and a New York strip with sweet potato croquette. Then, make another reservation on the big day to sup on cauliflower soup with crispy kale and Valley lemons, fried chicken with green garlic, and a dark chocolate caramel tart for only $45. White you are at it, book a session on-site with Hayward Gaude Photography to make sure the memories last. Dinner hours are 5-10 pm.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille
Cupid’s arrow has struck this La Cantera steakhouse, which is offering a sumptuous dinner of tried-and-true fare. Begin the evening with a rich lobster bisque or a classic wedge salad, before moving on to entrée choices like an applewood bacon-wrapped filer with jumbo crab, grilled salmon with lemon dill butter, or spaghetti squash primavera. The dessert trio is a must for the grand finale. Early birds can enjoy the dinner for $59.95 by making a reservation at 5:30 pm or earlier. The price goes up to $74.95 at 5:45 pm.
