Realtor Profile
This Fredericksburg Realtor shows you how to live the simple life
Born and raised in the Hill Country, where farming and ranching and a simpler way of life reign supreme, Joe Salinas is a fourth-generation Fredericksburg resident. The broker associate at Kuper Sotheby's International Realty attended Texas Lutheran University, where he obtained a bachelor's in chemical engineering. Shortly after graduation in 2005, Salinas started his real estate career with Kuper Sotheby's and has since obtained both a GRI designation and a brokerage license.
During this time as a Realtor, Joe has volunteered on both professional standards and ethics committees along with the political committee for the Texas Association of Realtors. His family also has a third-generation construction company based out of Fredericksburg, where his personal passion is the preservation and restoration of older homes.
In his free time, Salinas is an avid tennis and football player, along with volunteering in both the Fredericksburg and San Antonio communities. His specialty in residential homes as well as farm and ranch properties, along with expertise in relocation, helps him to not only let his clients live their lives, but become connoisseurs of it.
We chatted with Salinas to find out more about his work and what drives him.
CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?
Joe Salinas: Helping someone achieve one of their biggest dreams: home ownership. Seeing them light up when they find that right home and watch them mentally move in, and then at closing knowing they made one of their biggest dreams happen.
CM: What's one piece of advice you'd give to people looking for their dream home?
JS: When looking at homes online, the pictures are one thing verses taking your boots through the door. There is nothing quite like actually walking through the home and getting a feel for it in person.
CM: And advice to those who are selling?
JS: For those who are selling their home, declutter, depersonalize and understand that even though it is still the sellers' home, it is now a home that's on the market for the world. Today's internet reach is vast and pictures and information can be found everywhere, so the buyer could be coming from anywhere and you want boots in the door to help them make that homebuying decision.
CM: Sum up Fredericksburg in three words.
JS: Historical, cultural, and refined.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
JS: My special skill is being able to understand my clients by both verbal and non-verbal cues and understanding what they need to get the job done in the most effective way possible.
CM: What's one thing people might not know about you?
JS: I have a passion for micro mechanics and I am very detail oriented, so these two paired together allow me to restore vintage time pieces. I love working on them to help relax and find joy in watching a vintage wristwatch come back to life after years of remaining asleep.
