San Antonio’s median home price climbs to record-setting high of $311,000
Unless something drastic happens, it appears the median sale price of homes in the San Antonio area will stay above $300,000 for good.
In December, the median sale price of a home in the region climbed to its highest amount ever — $311,000. That’s according to a new report from the San Antonio Board of Realtors. The area surpassed the $300,000 mark in October (median price of $305,400) and remained above that level in November ($307,200).
The December median sale price in the region rose 19 percent compared with December 2020 ($266,100), the report shows.
Despite the escalation in home prices, the area saw only a 1 percent dip in single-family home sales from December 2020 (3,577) to December 2021 (3,529), SABoR says.
Bexar County reported 2,509 single-family homes sold in December, a year-over-year increase of 1.3 percent. The county’s median sale price in December jumped 18.5 percent to $295,000 compared with the same time a year earlier. In November, the median price was $292,000.
“We saw a strong end to the year in the San Antonio area, with an increase in pending sales and new listings compared to 2020,” Tracie Hasslocher, SABoR’s 2022 chairwoman, says in a news release.
