Celebrity-favorite bootmaker scoots into new San Antonio shop at La Cantera
It tracks that a city that has inspired hits by George Strait, Bob Wills, and Tanya Tucker would also be the birthplace of one of the world's most renowned cobblers, Lucchese Bootmaker. The luxury Texas brand that started in San Antonio will receive a grand homecoming on Saturday, April 20 when it debuts a new store at the Shops at La Cantera, 15900 La Cantera Pkwy. #3335.
This will be the second San Antonio-area store for Lucchese, after its location at the Alamo Quarry Market (a.k.a. "the Quarry") at 255 East Basse Rd. #800.
Whether shoppers are looking to impress dancehall regulars or find an everyday pair, the store surely will provide plenty of options. Lucchese's new stomping ground, the company's 25th brick-and-mortar, boasts 2,921 square feet of retail space, a custom boot area, and a luxe fitting room.
In addition to boots, the shop will carry apparel, leather goods, accessories, and handbags — part of the enterprise's shift towards being a lifestyle brand.

Lucchese's San Antonio roots date back to 1883 when Italian immigrant Salvatore Lucchese began crafting hard-wearing boots for a mostly military clientele. The company remained locally headquartered until 1986, when it shifted boot-making operations to El Paso. (It's now headquartered in Dallas.)
The brand's reputation increased in the subsequent decades as it attracted famous clients like Lyndon B. Johnson, Bing Crosby, and former Texas governor Dolph Briscoe.
Rock and roll had its blue suede shoes, and early hip-hop climbed the charts in Adidas, but no footwear-music combo has ever been in step as much as boots and country. It's impossible to imagine honky-tonkers covering their toes with anything else, whether knockin', scootin', or worn with painted-on jeans.
Today, young country stars like Luke Bryan use the name as shorthand for a good night on the town. Country superstar Chris Stapleton launched a collaboration in 2023, and country up-and-comer (and Conroe native) Parker McCollum just launched his own line with Lucchese.
Lucchese even launched an exclusive 140th anniversary boot last fall that sold for $16,000.
The company has now evolved into a lifestyle brand that offers everything from accessories to travel gear and apparel in handcrafted leather.
"Our retail spaces allow brand fans and newcomers alike to step foot into the Western lifestyle and see, touch, and feel our unmatched level of craftsmanship and strong sense of community," explains Vice President of Retail Operations Angela Hahn in a release.
Undeniably, though, Lucchese's corner of the Western lifestyle is a little bit fancier than a small-town rodeo. The grand opening celebrations on April 20 will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Hours of operation will be 11 am-8 pm Monday-Thursday, 11 am-9 pm Friday-Saturday, and 12-6 pm Sunday.
