OPENING ALERT
Popular pickleball chain debuts massive new facility near UTSA

The new Dill Dinkers is the largest indoor pickleball facility in the area.
Pickleball franchise Dill Dinkers is now playing doubles in San Antonio. The sporty chain has opened a second 24,000-square-foot location at 5131 Beckwith Blvd., near the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) campus.
The Maryland-based chain is a favorite with pickleball fanatics. Unlike other facilities that emphasize a more club-like environment, Dill Dinkers keeps the focus on the game with individually fenced-in courts, joint-friendly court surfaces, smart court technology, sound-dampening materials, and LED lighting for clear visibility, according to a release.
The second complex is even bigger than its 15,500-square-foot sibling at 18450 Blanco Rd. The owners say it is the largest indoor pickleball complex in San Antonio, complete with 10 courts and a fully stocked pro shop. Two social areas allow players to decompress between games.
Both San Antonio Dill Dinkers are operated by Air Force veterans Karen and Brian Birdy, the leadership team behind PMI Birdy Properties. The duo has plans to eventually expand to 20 locations in the San Antonio area.
“This location brings more players together and creates a better overall experience on the court,” says Brian Birdy in a release. “We’ve built a space that’s easy to enjoy, whether you’re new to the game or play regularly, and working with UTSA student-athletes as part of our coaching team keeps us connected to the local community.”
Anyone can reserve a court, but memberships are recommended. Annual rates range from $400 to $1,150 and include perks such as advance booking, discounts on private court fees and event rentals, and access to the chain’s other locations nationwide. To help get locals acquainted with Dill Dinkers, it is offering special promotions like a 90-day trial membership for $89 and buy one, get one free pricing on select programming, including leagues and open play.
