BIG SWINGS
Whimsical new mini golf course tees off at San Antonio's Pearl
A replica of the 18-pounder canon guards Pearl Putt.
The Pearl is known for many things — a place to grab a bite or a $140 Trudon candle, maybe catch a country legend — but it hasn’t exactly been San Antonio’s go-to spot for a low-pressure first date. Grab a putter, player. The posh property is taking a swing at mini golf with Pearl Putt, an 18-hole course at 1100 Springs Plaza.
As any fan of the game knows, a mini golf course is only as good as its props. Pearl Putt’s builds come from Tiny Town Studios, the Milam County fabricator known for fantastical treehouses and Gruene Mini Golf. While much of the company’s work leans appropriately kitsch, this time they did a deep dive into San Antonio lore.

A replica of the Alamo looms over one hole, complete with the 18-pounder cannon. And of course, there’s plenty of Pearl, too. The famous smokestack is crowned by a golf ball, and putters will encounter Hotel Emma and Stable Hall as they make their way through the grounds.
Other design details are more subtle homages. The planners incorporated the black and white tile used at the Cellars apartments and the historic brick used throughout the compound. The rock waterfall nods to Pearl Beer’s “country of 1100 springs” promotional campaigns, most famously depicted on a Dallas billboard.
“Visitors are going to have a lot of fun discovering this course as they wander the property, and we love that it feels like a little surprise tucked into the heart of Pearl,” said Beth Smith, vice president of media and PR for Silver Ventures, in a release.

Though Pearl Putt’s creation may seem out of the blue, it is part of a nationwide trend driven by Millennials and Zoomers’ increasing preference for experiential hangouts. In 2024, Tiger Woods-backed franchise PopStroke opened near Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Funlab Holey Moley Golf Club at the Shops of Rivercenter. And earlier this year, the owners of downtown’s Casa Rio gave longtime attraction Cool Crest Miniature Golf a refresh.
Following Pearl Putt’s Friday tee-off, the course will be open daily, 10 am-11 pm. Tickets are available onsite or via Google or Apple Maps, at $12 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and younger.
