OPENING ALERT
Entertainment chain Taroko Sports finally opens in San Antonio
Taiwanese entertainment center Taroko Sports is finally stepping up to the plate in San Antonio. After a year of anticipation, the baseball-themed chain is opening its first San Antonio complex in the Park North Shopping Center at 618 NW Loop 410 on August 29.
Batting cages are the centerpiece of Taroko Sports, but the venue offers plenty of other diversions. Other baseball activities include a pitching mound and the HitTrax Suite, an augmented reality training module that allows jocks to compete in leagues or swing in some of the most famous stadiums in the world.
“Our goal is to make baseball fun and accessible — not just for athletes, but for everyone,” says Gordon Hsieh, founder and CEO of TRK Corporation, in an earlier press release. “Taroko Sports is about creating a space where families, friends, and coworkers can come together to play, compete, and connect.”
Still, one doesn’t need to bat a thousand to enjoy the space. Similarly to Main Event, Taroko has arcade games, mini bowling, electronic darts, and plenty of other diversions that do ding, ding, ding. Each location has a counter service restaurant serving pub grub like pizza and fries, plus beer and seltzers.

Taroko first entered the U.S. market in April 2025 with the opening of its first batting center in Katy. It quickly followed up with an outpost in Mesa, Arizona, teasing that it would begin development on an additional three locations. Though the Alamo City outpost took a little longer than expected, it did give the chain time to paint some snazzy San Antonio-themed murals.
The opening celebration will feature a live DJ, fun attractions for all ages, and 50 percent off all games August 29-30. And the first 100 guests will also receive a free one-hour arcade time play card and a commemorative T-shirt.
Taroko is among a growing number of chains set to make San Antonio more active in the coming year. Major League Soccer player Brian Ching is building a soccer-themed beer garden, Pitch 25, on the East Side, and the Western-themed Outlaw Pickle opened in May — steps away from Taroko.
