1. Megabus departs San Antonio and Texas after bankruptcy filing. A valuable transportation option has shut down in San Antonio: Megabus, the cheap and efficient bus company that offered rides for as low as $1, has ended service across Texas, including all routes operating between Austin, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Houston, and San Antonio.
2. Iconic San Antonio sushi restaurant folds after 19 years. One of the most respected names in San Antonio sushi is closing after 19 years in business. According to a Facebook announcement from chef and owner William "Goro" Pitchford, Godai Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant will shutter on August 31.
3. Favor picks up 45-minute grocery deliveries from H-E-B. It's the dawn of a new age for grocery delivery. Austin-based on-demand delivery brand Favor has launched a new service that promises to deliver H-E-B groceries to customers in just under an hour. Called H-E-B Now, the service is meant to be a convenient and fast solution for a Favor customer's last-minute grocery needs.
4. San Antonio's Reese Bros makes Southern Living's best new barbecue list. As Texans, it is our cultural birthright to argue about where to find the best barbecue. A new list that ranks Texas barbecue joints against other Southern states is sure to spark plenty of good-natured debate. Reese Bros. made the cut.
5. Luxury hotel preserving 19th century schoolhouses debuts in San Antonio. It's a hot month for San Antonio hotels, and now one of the most anticipated openings has happened. The Kimpton Santo, the first Kimpton in the city so far and the largest in all of Texas, debuted with some dining discounts on August 29. Located at 431 S. Alamo St., it overlooks Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair and brings a handful of luxe, new restaurants and bars to the already bustling area.
