San Antonio's Lone Star Brewery District reveals exciting additions
The future of the Lone Star Brewery District is forming — and it looks pretty fun. A movie theater and an entertainment complex are the first two businesses to sign on to the massive mixed-use development, according to a statement from developers CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. and Aqualand Development.
"We are thrilled to announce Cinemark and Punch Bowl Social as the first major tenants at the Lone Star Brewery District," said David Neuhoff, vice president of development for CBL, in a release. "Both of these exciting entertainment venues fill a void in the Southtown market and fit perfectly with our vision of providing San Antonio with an unparalleled entertainment, retail, and dining experience."
Punch Bowl Social is a restaurant, bar, and entertainment venue with 25,000 square feet of bowling alleys, arcade games, table-top games, and more. The Denver-based chain — which has locations in Austin, Portland, and Detroit — offers a menu curated by celebrity chef Hugh Acheson.
Cinemark is opening a 4,500-square-foot space with 10 theaters, including one XD auditorium that features a larger screen. The new Lone Star location will also include adjustable recliners for maximum movie-watching comfort.
Even more is in store for Lone Star Brewery District. Earlier this year developers announced plans to transform the 133-year old brewery, which shuttered in 1996, into 420,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, venue, office, housing, and hotel space. The project is expected to be complete by late 2018.
