1. Pirate-themed tiki bar drops anchor in downtown San Antonio. The team behind the retro San Antonio bar Be Kind and Rewind plundered a pirate theme for its newest project. Paradise Unknown, a new tiki bar downtown, transported guests to a mysterious tropical paradise when it opened on April 16.
2. Houston bootmaker uncorks new Hill Country wine castle. Folks in the Middle Ages may not have worn crocodile cowboy boots, but that doesn’t mean one Houston cobbler doesn’t feel right at home among towers and turrets. Republic Boot Company is opening its Republic Wine Castle in Johnson City on May 1.
3. New River Walk doughnut tour launches in San Antonio. Chicago’s Underground Donut Tour launched a walking tour near the San Antonio Riverwalk, giving locals a sweet reason to explore downtown. It’s not all doughnuts, though. Tourists can also expect to sample pan dulce and gelato.
4. R&B icons Usher and Chris Brown team up for 2026 San Antonio tour stop. Stars Usher and Chris Brown will co-headline the appropriately-titled The R&B Tour in 2026, an all-stadium journey which will include a stop at the Alamodome on October 5.

5. 3 new Mexican chains to make San Antonio debut at Brooks. Brooks is flexing its culinary muscles with three new restaurants set to open this summer at La Picosa Town Center. The concepts — Tacos Chulos, Amores de Julia, and Mariscos el Riqui — will offer everything from birria tacos to stylish Sinaloan cuisine.
