Popular yoga studio flows into hot far west San Antonio development

Black Swan Yoga is headed to the Far West Side for its third San Antonio studio.
One of San Antonio’s most popular yoga studios is the latest business to stretch into the city’s flourishing Far West Side. According to a recent state filing Black Swan Yoga is opening its newest studio at the upcoming multi-million-dollar Portico at Shaenfield Ranch development at 7807 W Loop 1604 N. near Alamo Ranch.
The opening was first teased in a leasing brochure shared by developer Dominion Advisory Group. Project details submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation confirmed the new Black Swan and provided an estimated renovation completion date in mid-December.
Kimberly Joy Fife and Michael Fife founded the Austin yoga institution in 2009 with a core belief that the practice should be accessible to everyone. Black Swan has since grown to a nationwide mini-chain with locations in Denver, Phoenix, Houston, and Dallas. San Antonio currently has two studios.
The business is known for its donation-based model. The studio suggests a $15 fee for drop-ins and sells monthly and annual memberships, but does not require any payment for participation. Black Swan operates under the law of reciprocity, believing it reaps when helping those who cannot afford traditional yoga classes.
Black Swan offers various types of classes, but its signature offering is flow yoga, a vinyasa-style practice that connects breath with movement. Most of the sessions are heated at 90 degrees, except for “Chill,” a class meant to offer mental and physical recovery.
The new yoga studio will join several San Antonio newcomers in the almost fully leased shopping center, including a Brazilian steakhouse and two Mexican concepts. Local favorites Box St. All Day and Crepeccino will also be part of the mix.
