San Antonio lands nonstop service to Mexico hot spot from low-cost airline

Just in time for summer vacation, there's an affordable new option for jetting off to a top Mexico beach destination.
Low-cost air carrier Sun Country Airlines has announced new nonstop service from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to Cancun International Airport (CUN), beginning Memorial Day weekend.
The new route takes off Friday, May 28, with service running twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. Fares start at an affordable $129 each way.
The airline has announced 16 new nonstop routes, including additional routes across Texas.
Sun Country is landing at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) for the first time, with nonstop service to Cancun, Las Vegas, and the airline's home hub of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The airline has also begun flights from Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW) to John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana, California, and will add service from DFW to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR) later this month.
“We are excited to extend our network and offer people access to even more low-cost vacation options, when they are ready to travel again,” said Sun Country Airlines CEO Jude Bricker. “The past year has been a challenge for the travel industry but with increased access to COVID-19 tests and vaccinations, we’re starting to see that turnaround.”
