New smash burger joint flips into San Antonio's Medical Center

ZOJAH Burger is now smashing it in Medical Center.
San Antonio’s smash burger craze is proving it still has legs. ZOJAH Burger, a new fast-casual joint slinging crispy-edged patties, is now open at 9390 Huebner Rd. #109 in Medical Center.
According to an announcement from property manager Dominion Advisory Group, owner Alvin Garlito created the brand by combining the names of his three children, Zoe, Elijah, and Isaiah. The restaurateur wanted to create a neighborhood spot that would serve quality, affordable food to hospital workers, students, and nearby families.
The menu doesn’t set out to break any rules. The main attraction is the burgers, served with certified Angus beef patties, cheese, onion, pickles, and a tangy proprietary sauce. Diners can customize by doubling (or tripling) up the meat or adding some heat from grilled jalapeños.

Those who are trying to avoid red meat also have plenty of choices. ZOJAH serves hand-battered chicken sandwiches and bites, grilled cheeses, crinkle-cut fries, and Southwest-inspired bean burger for vegetarians. For dessert, guests can choose from four flavors — vanilla, chocolate, Reese’s peanut butter, and Oreo.
Dominion says Garlito’s mission is to “create meaningful experiences through excellence and genuine hospitality.” In order to show his children how small businesses can make a big impact, he is committed to donating some of the profits to community nonprofits.
ZOJAH has a drive-thru, but hungry patrons may not want to wait to sink their teeth into the burgers. The contemporary dining room is outfitted with race car red and black accents. One wall is plastered with catchy slogans. If Garlito ever decides to franchise, he already has a marketing campaign.
ZOJAH Burger is now open seven days a week. Although no regular hours are posted on the website, its Google Business states it is open from 10:30 am-11 pm daily.
