Austin Thai favorite to open in booming New Braunfels development
Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen serves popular fare like tom kha.
A popular Texas mini-chain is making its way to New Braunfels. Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen will open its first Hill Country restaurant in the booming Solms Landing development at 2292 Sophie Ln.
Spoon + Fork, not to be confused with New Braunfels breakfast favorite Fork and Spoon, first opened in Austin in 2018. Owner Thana Trepetch, who already owned a Thai spot in McKinney, debuted the spot shortly after moving to the Capital City — later rebranding the original restaurant to its current name. The small chain now has four locations, two in the Dallas area and another two near Austin.
The restaurant is known for traditional Thai dishes such as green papaya salad, various curries, chicken satay, and tom kha. But Trepetch is hardly a purist. The menus sneak in a few Japanese dishes like edamame and yakisoba, plus original fusion creations like pan-seared panang salmon avocado.
Although Spoon + Fork did not immediately respond to a request for an opening timeline, a recent Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project filing states that work will be done by February 2027.
Once open, the 2,625-square-foot restaurant will join at least two other chains in the small strip. The rental plan shows two previously announced tenants: Jeremiah’s Ice and dirty soda shop Swig.
Notably absent from the brochure is Grain & Berry, a Florida-based chain known for its build-your-own fruit bowls, smoothies, juices, and parfaits. The development had previously announced the shop via its social media channels, but there have since been no updates. CultureMap has reached out to the site’s broker to confirm it is still on deck.
