Fave chicken and waffles chain fries up new San Antonio restaurant

Mr. C's is heading to the Far West Side.
A popular San Antonio soul food mini-chain is set to bring some Southern hospitality to the Far West Side. Mr. C’s Fried Chicken & Waffles is eyeing a third restaurant at 12922 Potranco Rd. #112, according to recent state filings.
Mr. C’s introduced itself to San Antonio in October 2018 with a spot in the Shaenfield Ranch Center at 7915 W Loop 1604 N. Less than a year later, it debuted a second outpost at 9390 Huebner Rd.
Since then, the business has experienced a little turbulence. The owners closed the second location at the end of 2023. No explanation was given at the time, though it may have been poor foot traffic. Its then-neighbor Krazy Katsu was also not able to make it go in the same Medical Center shopping center. Undeterred, Mr. C’s opened another restaurant at 7525 N. Loop 1604 N. #108 in Live Oak in November 2024.
As the name spells out, the joint specializes in chicken and waffles. Diners can choose from a plain or flavored waffle, then top it with fried chicken breasts, wings, drumsticks, or Buffalo wings tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce.
Beyond the waffle iron and deep fryer, Mr. C’s also offers diner-style breakfast plates and a full menu of Southern entrees like meatloaf, blackened catfish, smothered pork chops, and shrimp and grits. As with all soul food restaurants, there’s a wealth of sides ranging from candied yams and collard greens to mac ‘n’ cheese and fried okra.
According to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records, the third Mr. C’s will be pouring Kool-Aid by February 2026. However, project details are subject to change without notice. A request for more information was not returned in time for publication.
