Lucky smash burger joint to open in downtown San Antonio

A buzzy San Antonio burger joint will soon trade the tight confines of a food truck for a full-sized kitchen. Lucky Patty Smash Burgers is moving into downtown’s Maverick Building at 600 N. Presa St.
Texas regulatory filings say that the building renovations will finish out in early September, but are subject to change. The actual suite was not mentioned in the records, but very little real estate is left in the building, which has Voodoo Doughnut facing Houston Street, Riot Comedy Club in the basement, and short-term rental company Placemakr taking up all the upstairs floors. That points to the corner suite once occupied by The Local Bar.
The roving concept is part of the Richaud Hospitality Group, which owns Chill N Nitrogen Ice Cream. Although the website does not waste much time explaining how it came up with the name, it does have some fun anthropomorphizing its titular Patty.
“Lucky Patty isn’t just a burger,” the restaurant writes on its website. “She’s Patty: a character, a personality, a vibe. Patty is that reminder that simple things can be incredible when they’re done right. She’s juicy, bold, and comes with enough attitude to turn any day into a good day.”
Although the sassy Patty isn’t pictured, we like to imagine her as Broadway diva Patti LuPone squeezed into Katy Perry’s 2019 Met Gala costume.
Moving on. Lucky Patty’s menu, as with most smash burger spots, is fairly uncomplicated. The burgers range from the single-patty All-American to the Smashed Sisters with barbecue sauce, crispy onions, and roasted jalapeno relish.
The only side is seasoned fries, available plain or loaded. Lucky Patty also mixes up a trio of milkshakes: Chocolate, Strawberry Field, and the intriguing Ice Baby.
