OPENING ALERT
Insomnia Cookies delivers first downtown San Antonio bakery

Insomnia Cookies will open its first downtown San Antonio bakery during Fiesta.
San Antonio night owls will soon have a new spot to get a sugar fix. Insomnia Cookies, the buzzy national chain known for delivering warm treats until 3 am, will open its first downtown bakery at 122 E Houston St. in the thick of Fiesta on April 25.
The location in the heart of Alamo City’s core is slightly unusual. The rapidly growing brand usually opens around college campuses. One of San Antonio’s two outposts is near the University of Texas at San Antonio Campus, while the other is a short jaunt from University and Methodist Hospitals.
While Insomnia’s warm cookie delivery downtown will no doubt be popular with downtown office workers, the company likely chose it for heavy foot traffic. The Houston Street outpost will position itself near other touristy sweet shops on the downtown strip, like Voodoo Doughnut and Cookie Plug.
Although flavors vary by store, Insomnia customers can find classic cookie flavors like chocolate chunk, peanut butter chip, and oatmeal raisin mixed in with a few vegan and gluten-free options. To keep customers coming back, it also rolls out seasonal specials like the current Lemon Haze or a Strawberry Toastie cookie crowned with a mini toaster pastry.
The cookies are available individually or in party packs that can give up to 100 office workers a sugar rush. If plain cookies aren’t your thing, Insomnia also sells brownies, ice cream sandwiches, and cookie cakes.
To celebrate its grand opening, Insomnia will be giving out free cookies to customers who sign up for its rewards program between noon-3 am on April 25. Fans can also score free delivery using the code SANANTONIO until May 11.
After the debut, Insomnia will be open Sunday, noon-1 am; Monday through Wednesday, 11 am-1 am; Thursday and Friday, 11 am-3 am; and Saturday, noon-3 am.
