Food & Wine names Hotel Emma one of America's 10 best hotels

Hotel Emma is one of the top-10 best hotels in the U.S. for food and drink, according to Food & Wine.
San Antonio's Hotel Emma is feasting on a prestigious award in Food & Wine magazine’s 2026 Global Tastemaker Awards.
Food & Wine annually surveys its network of judges, which includes more than 400 chefs, travel experts, wine connoisseurs, and more, to determine nominees for "the best food-forward destinations" in the world.
Winners are then evaluated and ranked by the magazine's Global Advisory Board. The Global Tastemaker Awards praised Hotel Emma as the 8th best hotel in the U.S. for food and drink, up from No. 10 last year. The historic property in the Pearl District has earned many other awards for its Southern hospitality and charm, but Food & Wine specifically gushes about the hotel's on-site restaurants and bars.
"At Hotel Emma, Happy hour takes the form of Friday afternoon chef’s tastings in the library, where guests mingle while sampling seasonal dishes that highlight ingredients from nearby farms," the report said.

The hotel's artisan food market, Larder, is the best destination for a morning pick-me-up with its "tightly edited list of pastries and sandwiches," while Supper fills the gap for sit-down meals all day long with seasonal dishes made from regionally sourced ingredients. Bar and tavern Sternewirth sets the scene for a swanky evening with an extensive list of original cocktails that honor the hotel's German and Mexican history.
"Those eager for even more can check the event calendar for frequent wine dinners and spirits events or speak to the resident culinary concierge for guidance on the Pearl District’s dynamic food scene," the report said.San Antonians who want to get out of their city for a change will find Austin and Houston as the only other Texas destinations that earned awards from Food & Wine.
Both cities were named among the top 10 best foodie cities in America, while Austin took home two more awards as the No. 1 best coffee city and No. 4 best pastry city in the U.S. for 2026.Additional Texas properties that earned awards from Food & Wine include:
