It turns out it only takes two Greeks to conquer one of world history’s most fearsome warriors — at least when it comes to dinner time. Two Greeks Grill is now open in the former home of Genghis Grill at 1903 N. Loop 1604 E.

The concept, founded by Jerry Kouroumousis and uncle Nick Zaimis, was originally intended to open in April, but the contractors had to strip the space entirely for a new buildout. The result is a much sunnier space that nods to beachside resorts (accented with a little Santorini blue on the staff’s uniform).

Unlike some local Greek restaurants which sneak in a few pan-Mediterranean dishes, Two Greeks sticks to the island’s cuisines. Along with standbys like souvlaki, spanokopita, and gyro (here made with pork), the restaurant serves a few hard-to-find dishes like exohiko (a country-style pastry roll with pork belly) and bifteki (seasoned beef patties).

Although there are certainly dips, diners won’t be dipping their pita in hummus. Instead, the menu sports a sampler with skordalia (a garlic and potato purée), tzatziki, melitzanosalata (a roasted eggplant dip sans tahini), and tirokafteri (whipped spicy feta).

The dessert list offers a few unexpected treats, too. Baclava is joined by galaktoboureko, a creamy semolina custard wrapped in phyllo, and portokalópita, a syrup-soaked orange cake. The beer selection ranges from domestics to Pinthouse’s Electric Jellyfish, but the wines by the bottle are all — you guessed it — Greek.

Two Greeks is currently open Monday through Thursday, 11 am– 9 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11 am-10 pm; and Sunday, 11 am-8 pm.

As for Genghis Grill, it lives on to fight another day. After closing the only San Antonio location in December 2025, the franchise owners brought it back on Bitter Road in June.
