Central Texans have plenty of creature comforts, but none could beat a warm, hand-delivered chocolate chip cookie for simplicity and joy-per-ounce. This is the uncomplicated story of how the Austin-based Tiff's Treats became a Texas favorite. But there's good news for fans who live farther away: These chocolate chip cookies are now available for shipping across the United States.

Until December 11, Tiff's Treats only delivered locally, based on the day's driving times to any particular location; With more than 100 locations in large Texas cities and eight states in total, that's a lot of cookies, but many were still out of luck. The first nationwide options are limited, but this could be the start of big growth into new cities.

There is one major difference in local and nationwide deliveries: Because these cookies will have to travel a long way from a warm-climate state (and the chocolate chips must be protected at all costs), these packages will arrive chilled. With a ten-second microwave, says UT alum and founder Tiffany Chen, they'll be perfect to eat.

Most important, the recipe remains the same. ("We didn't make a ton of tweaks," she says). These cookies will also come individually wrapped to further preserve them after their journey.

"Tons and tons of customers every single day come to our website attempting to place orders, and can't get an order because they're not near one of our stores," says Chen. "So we have to turn away customers every single day — thousands over the course of time."

Of course, a big demographic is going to be old Tiff's Treats fans who have since moved out of range and crave their specific chocolate chip cookie fix. Some new customers will surely come to the site looking for any nationwide cookie delivery; The business' longtime domain name "cookiedelivery.com" sure helps. But an important new market will be gifting from afar.

"Then the other portion [creating demand], I really think, is people trying to send ... that same experience to a loved one," Chen says. "So now they're able to send that and share, 'Hey, this is this is a place that I love, and I can share that with you."

This shouldn't cause too many growing pains for the company in terms of shipping logistics. It has previously shipped frozen cookie dough for baking, cookie dough truffles, and non-food goodies like cookbooks and jewelry collaborations. However, this is a milestone as the first baked cookies to ship.
