Chicken Salad Chick plans new San Antonio location near Alamo Heights
Chicken Salad Chick is heading to Austin Highway.
Popular sandwich franchise Chicken Salad Chick is pecking at a new San Antonio location. The Atlanta-based chain has signed on to the Alamo Hills Shopping Center at 1230 Austin Hwy, according to Foresite Commercial Real Estate.
Founder Stacy Brown started the fast-casual chain in Auburn, Alabama, as a cottage operation, supplying friends and local businesses out of her home. Her late husband, Kevin Brown, helped her launch a small takeout cafe in 2008, which soon blossomed into a nationwide franchise with more than 330 locations in 22 states.
The restaurant first set its sights on the San Antonio area in 2021, signing an eight-unit deal with local franchisee OberRoc LLC. Since then, the company has opened three Alamo City outposts and units in New Braunfels and Boerne.
Chicken Salad Chick makes no bones about its menu, offering its signature dish in scoops like lemon basil, dill pickle, bacon ranch, or the Fruity Fran spiked with apples, grapes, and pineapple. All can be eaten with crackers or piled onto a croissant or toast for a sandwich.
If poultry ruffles guests' feathers, the restaurant offers options like broccoli salads, pimento cheese, mac ‘n’ cheese, and soups like chicken tortilla or loaded potato. Desserts stay in the Southern lane too, with decadent confections like a chocolate rice cereal bar and red velvet cake.
The near-Alamo Heights location does not yet have an estimated opening date, but will likely not arrive before the second quarter of 2027.
