Promising San Antonio café to close after 7 months on South Side

Besitos Café will close on July 12.
A South Side coffee shop known for “family, culture, and cariño” is closing its doors after a brief seven months. Besitos Café at 1123 Nogalitos St. will shutter on July 12.
“With a heavy heart, we want to share that Besitos Café will be closing its doors,” wrote the café in a Facebook statement. “This decision was not an easy one. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every customer, friend, family member, and supporter who walked through our doors.”
Besitos said that the last few months had been slow for the new business. Despite pouring their hearts into the project, it wasn’t “able to make it.”
Devin Marie Morin and Eduardo Morin opened Besitos in November, 2025, serving coffee, breakfast tacos, and pan dulce. The culture part of their motto was not just seen in traditional beverages like café de olla, champurado, arroz con leche, and Abuelitas hot chocolate. The shop served a variety of lattes with flavors such as churro, mazapan, Duvalin, and Sponch.
The interior honored their Mexican heritage, too. A mural features two waltzing calacas and an ofrenda honors the family’s ancestors. Neighborhood artists covered the walls with a rotating array of Día de los Muertos-themed works. While the Morins acknowledged the setback, they said they were grateful for Besitos’ brief run.
“While this chapter is coming to an end, we believe that every ending makes room for a new beginning,” they wrote. “We are excited to see what God has planned next, and we carry with us the lessons, friendships, and memories that Besitos Café gave us.”
