New European-style weekend farmers market blossoms in Alamo Heights
Residents of Alamo Heights will soon have a fresh way to spend a Sunday afternoon. A rep from Four Seasons Markets confirmed that it is opening a new San Antonio farmers market on December 2 inside the Carousel Shopping Center at 1888 Nacogdoches Rd.
The market will be the second Alamo City outpost for the Dallas-Fort Worth based company. It made its local debut with a popular Saturday market at the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center at 11602 Huebner Rd. in June.
Four Seasons Markets was founded in 2009 in Garland, Texas, by a pair of French natives, Vincent Hirth and Florine Bowman. The idea was to bring a little bit of Europe — where open air markets are common — to Texas
According to the rep, the new Sunday market will be similar to the Huebner Oaks location, the though lineup is still being finalized. The focus is on food, from locally grown produce to artisanal goods, but other booths will focus on skin care, home products, and fashion accessories.
To find out which favorites will be at the market each week, check the events section of Four Seasons’ website each week. Or just stop by between 10 am-2 pm and let your stomach make all the decisions.
The addition makes the neighborhood a veritable utopia for lovers of just-picked seasonal vegetables and responsibly raised meat. Sundays also feature The Boardwalk on Broadway market and the Alamo Heights Farmers Market, both within a short drive from the Carousel.
