Where to Eat Now

Where to eat in San Antonio right now: 5 top restaurants at The Rim

This month is all about The Rim, which has been exploding with restaurants and amazing flavors for a while now. There are options — lots of options — and we've rounded up a few that you must try. The Rim boasts tons of different choices, from fancy steaks to burger imports and brunch favorites.

Bob's Steak & Chop House
We love everything about this steakhouse. It's bold and delicious with cooked-to-perfection steaks and amazing sides. The filet mignon with fresh broccoli and mashed potatoes was all we needed. We very much love the pickles on the table as a starter, and the wine menu is so good we couldn't make up our minds.

The General Public
The General Public is a happy place indeed. The menu has a little something for everyone, but the Mama's Tamale Pie won us over bite by bite. They also have lighter fare that made others in our party very happy. Mixology was fast and tasty, but they had most of us with the rosé options.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Burgers, salads, and sides collide in this new addition to The Rim. The Magic Shroom is a definitive favorite, a perfect blend of Angus beef, Texas goat cheese, and field mushrooms. Couple this amazing burger with the kale salad and truffle fries for a true feast. You'll also want to check out the great beer, wine, and cocktail list at one of Texas' most popular burger chains.

Mash'D
Mash'D is a moonshine haven of tasty options. The menu is extensive, but brunch wins in our book. Get the Manhole Cover Pancake, a 14-inch pancake stuffed with blueberries and butterscotch chips. You might need to roll out of there, but you'll be happy.

Russo's Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen
Toss a pie in the air and you have our attention — we had to try the pizza at Russo's. The Mona Lisa with buffalo mozzarella cheese was tasty, but the prosciutto and kale was the crowd favorite (who would have guessed?). Russo's also has a lot of Italian favorites perfect for the family who likes to share, including calzones, pastas, and sandwiches.
