This year, break with tradition and give pops a dining experience instead. From steakhouses to beer gardens, these San Antonio area spots are sure to make his day.
Bakery Lorraine
Pack a picnic lunch for Father’s Day with a few of his favorite snacks and limited edition macarons available only on the weekend. Available at all San Antonio locations, the treats use Bourbon and loose leaf tobacco from Club Humidor for a treat that is perfectly portable for a day outdoors. June 15-16. One for $2.25, six for $13, and $24 for a dozen.
Boudro’s Texas Bistro
This stylish River Walk bistro is doing fathers a solid with a three-course special showcasing Lone Star flavors. The feast includes a Gulf shrimp ceviche, a wood-grilled Angus ribeye with truffle twice-baked potatoes and blistered broccolini, and a pineapple upside-down cornmeal cake with Buffalo Trace gelato. 11 am to 11 pm. $45.
Krause’s Cafe & Biergarten
Head out to New Braunfels for a beefy buffet featuring a smoked pork rack served with Bourbon apples. Other temptations include bacon, sausage; scrambled eggs; biscuits and gravy; eggs Benedict; and omelet, pancake and dessert stations. A Bloody Mary bar and draft beer specials will keep the good times flowing. 9 am to 2pm. $40 for adults, $15 for children 12 and under.
Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar
Go whole hog for dad with a pig roast from chef PJ Edwards accompanied by a full summer buffet of sides. The lively event will also feature live music, games, a bacon eating contest, door prizes, and a bounce house to keep the kids busy. Noon to 4 pm. $35 for adults, kids 12 and under eat free.
Morton’s The Steakhouse
Whether Dad is a hardcore carnivore or swearing off red meat, this steakhouse’s decadent prix fixe has a main sure to impress. Pair entree choices of miso marinated sea bass, chicken piccata, or a filet mignon with choice of soup and salad and a classic dessert. Each meal comes with a signature side item. Available from 4:30-10 pm. $59.
Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling
Celebrating the big day is as easy as remembering three Bs: bacon, bourbon, and beer. Ranger Creek will serve all three as part of a special Father’s Day flight featuring four slabs of bacon, two whiskies, and two brews. Plenty of brunch drinks like beermosas and Bloody Marys to sip while guests chill out to live music on the outdoor patio. Pets and kiddos are welcome with supervision. Noon to 4 pm.
Rosella at the Rand
Jazz up pop’s day with a brunch showcasing bops from Grammy Award winner Henry Brun & the International Trio. Brunch favorites like waffles, egg cloud sandwiches, and veggie omelettes will be available a la carte along with fresh coffee, mimosas, and micheladas. Best of all, parking is free in the Rand Building garage with validation. 10 am to 3 pm.
Zinc Bistro & Bar
This San Antonio fine dining mainstay is rolling out a Southwestern-influenced three-course meal that is sure to please dear old dad. Start with a choice of Texas citrus avocado salad or creamy roasted poblano cheese soup, then move on to a grilled, center-cut New York strip with sweet potato gratin and asparagus and coconut rum tres leches for dessert. Noon to 10 pm. $35.
