A TOAST TO THE TOWER
California wineries pour into downtown San Antonio for summer festival
A bunch of Californians are taking over the Tower of the Americas this summer.
The iconic downtown San Antonio tower will host the third annual Wine Fest on Saturday, June 5 from 2-5 pm, featuring more than 70 wines from Sonoma County, California.
The tipsy affair, taking place at the base of the Tower of the Americas, will showcase 24 different wineries from Sonoma County, the dreamy Northern California wine region lauded for cultivating some of the most sought-after varietals in the world.
Festivalgoers can sip on 72 wine samples and enjoy paired appetizers while polishing up their wine knowledge during the mingle session with winery reps. On hand to toast the event will be winemakers Alexandre Remy of Oro Bello, Steve Dutton of Dutton Goldfield Winery, and Bobby Donnell of Dutton Estate Winery, in addition to a dozen winery ambassadors.
Multi Latin Grammy winner Joe Posada, a master of jazz and Tejano music, will perform live during the event, and event attendees can also enter to win special prizes.
The wineries will each offer unique wines, particularly given that Sonoma County’s 18 different appellations for growing grapes produce vastly individual wine styles. Featured wineries include:
- Jordan Vineyard and Winery
- Rombauer Vineyards
- Patz & Hall
- Alexander Valley Vineyards
- The Family Coppola
