Grab and Go
Where San Antonians go for no-hassle healthy meals that taste great
January. The month of gym memberships, checking out new fitness boutiques, or maybe igniting that diet regime one more time because it is the start of a fresh new year. We have all of this pressure to live a better, healthier lifestyle, yet the world and our email inbox do not seem to cut us any slack. The pressures of getting your professional mojo back at the same time as recharging that hot bod seems to be all part of this month.
Between temptations and life still being as busy as last year, we sought out the best grab-and-go places in San Antonio to stock up on healthy food. Here are five of the fastest yet local and healthy spots we found.
Rosella Coffee
With a new house-roasted coffee line and innovative menu crafted by chef "Tim the Girl," Rosella hits many marks of taste and health. Whether it’s an avocado toast after your early morning spin class or a root vegetable salad in between meetings, there are plenty of healthy options for lunch. If you're on a major time crunch, you can order online for painless pickup.
Guillermo's
Guillermo's is indulgent meets healthy meets Italian meets San Antone flair. We love this iconic downtown lunch and dinner spot. It offers reasonably priced healthy options at a fast pace. For dine in or takeout, we suggest the chicken avocado Caesar salad, full of good fats, great protein, and incredible taste. The chicken and mixed green salad is also packed with all the right things, including pineapple, almonds, cranberries, and feta cheese. Don’t get us wrong, there are plenty of over-the-top Italian options, but if you look at the long list of salads and the fast pace of the to-go counter, you can score big time.
La Panadería
Not only is this place taking over the Mexican bakery scene in San Antonio and beyond, but the food is also off the charts. It’s fast-paced with healthy options galore. Try the avocado bowl or maybe the turkey bowl if you are looking for a substitute for La Panadería's incredible tortas.
Grayze
The newest additional to the culinary community, Grayze is quick, nutritious, and affordable. We cannot stop thinking about its roasted cauliflower dish in a tahini dressing. There are also plenty of vibrant salads, and gluten-free and vegetarian offerings.
Bird Bakery
Another bakery to add to the healthy fast food list! Bird Bakery has some of the freshest sandwiches in town made with homemade seeded bread and roasted turkey. Skip the bread and get a protein plate — there are plenty of healthy options, and yup, it’s all at a fast pace too.
