Sporty Free People spin-off FP Movement stretches into San Antonio

FP Movement extends Free People's boho chic aesthetic to activewear.
A sporty new boutique from Free People offshoot FP Movement is shaping up at the Shops at La Cantera. The brand has filed state paperwork for its first San Antonio store at 15900 La Cantera Pkwy #20110, the former home of clothing and gift boutique Teal Poppy.
FP Movement comes from Philadelphia-based URBN, Inc., the retail conglomerate behind popular stores like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. Free People launched the label in 2012 as an in-store brand before it became its own entity in 2020 and started opening standalone storefronts nationwide.
Like its sister brand, FP Movement is known for its boho chic flair. Although the active clothes are made in high-performance fabrics, many of the pieces have unexpected detailing like jacquard prints, floral embroidery, and voluminous fits.
"At FP Movement, we're driven by the transformative power of movement," the brand describes itself on its site. "Our mission is to support your journey toward fitness, wellness, and happiness with bold activewear that empowers you to move with confidence."
Free People has been increasingly investing in the wellness space since 2019, when it ramped up its offerings of yoga mats, supplements, and even pastel-colored weights. Most new FP Movement stores offer flex space for workout classes, and the brand partners with local fitness studios to organize run days and other exercise-based social events.
A request for timeline information from URBN Inc. and Shops at La Cantera owners Brookfield Properties was not returned in time for publication. Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation paperwork says the buildout of the 2,584-square-foot space will begin in November and wrap up in January 2026.
Until then, fans of the health-conscious brand can shop sports bras, sneakers, leggings, and more online, at the Free People store in the Shops of La Cantera, and at several local boutiques.
