PechaKucha drafts San Antonio season finale around architecture
The final PechaKucha of 2026 will have an architecture theme.
Some of San Antonio’s most interesting people are grabbing the mic again. PechaKucha will close its 2026 season on October 15 at the recently renovated Magik Theatre (420 S. Alamo), giving notable locals the chance to share their stories, one slide at a time.
For those unfamiliar, PechaKucha is a global arts and culture event format in which each speaker shares 20 images that advance automatically every 20 seconds, for a total presentation time of six minutes and 40 seconds. Since its debut in San Antonio in 2011, the series has become a platform for local creatives, thinkers, and changemakers to share their passions and projects with the community.
The final 2026 event will have an architectural theme in collaboration with the Texas Society of Architects. The theme is a nod to PechaKucha’s roots at Tokyo’s Klein Dytham Architecture, where it was created to give architects a platform to share their pet projects and ideas. The evening’s emcee will be Mike Long of Long House Builders.
The presenters include:
- Sanda Coyle, a media executive, leadership coach, and co-founder of Coyle Whitson Strategy LLC.
- Robert Diaz de Leon, a graduate of Trinity University and a recipient of the Texas Society of Architects Artisan Award for his blacksmith work
- Everett Fly, a landscape architect and architect with 45 years of experience
- Kirt Haeberlein, the owner of Picker’s Paradise, a San Antonio architectural salvage business
- Seema Kairam, an affordable housing advocate for the San Antonio Housing Trust
- Michelangelo Sabatino, an architectural educator, historian, and Director of the School of Architecture + Planning of The University of Texas at San Antonio
- Jessica Flynn Saldaña, an architectural client who served on the board of the San Antonio Humane Society
The night begins with live music from 210 Young Jazz Trio, featuring Joel Castillo, Jared Finn, and Isaiah Williams. Attendees will enjoy complimentary bites from Liberty Bar, Olla Express Coffee, Duke's Dive/Mission Bell, and Folklores Catering. Drinks will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased online or at the event. Doors open at 6:30 pm for a welcome reception, with presentations beginning at 7:30 pm.
