BIGMOUTH STRIKES AGAIN
Morrissey yet again cancels sold-out San Antonio show

Morrissey has postponed his May 8 show in San Antonio.
Well, it happened again. An arena representative has confirmed that the Morrissey show scheduled for Thursday, May 8 at Boeing Center at Tech Port has been cancelled. The sold-out performance has been rescheduled to January 10, 2026.
The former Smiths frontman has a long history of ditching San Antonio performances. In a six-month stretch between 2016 and 2017, he cancelled three scheduled concerts, citing health concerns. The singer has not made an official announcement about the cause of the latest postponement.
The show delay did come with some omens. With little warning, the British rocker recently jettisoned a May 1 set in San Diego and a May 3 show in Rancho Mirage. Reps said he was suffering from a severe sinusitis attack but promised the tour would remain on track.
Morrissey has been one of rock music’s most unreliable acts in recent years. Website We Heart Music has been tracking the crooner’s cancellations since 1991. In 2024, he cancelled 39 percent of his tour dates. In 2023, he skipped 28 percent of his shows.
The 65-year-old singer has become a lightning rod for controversy in recent years for his comments on immigration and the Me Too movement. Still, he retains a sizable fanbase in San Antonio and the Mexican-American community. A 2005 documentary, Is It Really So Strange?, documented the phenomenon.
Even if Moz makes it to the stage in January 2026, there’s no guarantee he will perform a complete set. The singer frequently cuts shows short, citing various concerns. In 1992, he abruptly ended a San Antonio performance at Municipal Auditorium after fans rushed the stage.
