1. Swanky San Antonio resort fires up new Neapolitan pizza joint. The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa has added a pizzeria to its slate of amenities: Fiamme Pizzeria, the latest culinary offering from the popular destination, officially opened July 15, offering Neapolitan pies, seasonal salads, and house desserts.
2. New-school ice house chills out in San Antonio's River North District. It’s been a long time since San Antonians had to shelter in ice houses to escape the blistering sun, but the tradition still lives on. Now, a new concept is taking up the mantle in the city’s bustling River North District. River North Icehouse debuted July 18 at 317 E. Jones Ave.
3. Country festival that Eric Church kicked off returns to Texas for 2025. Fans might not expect to see the likes of country superstar Eric Church in a tiny Central Texas town, but it's what they got at a new camping festival at a Gonzales ranch in April 2024. Now, the Cattle Country Music Festival is eyeing the space again for a return from April 10-12, 2025.
4. Acclaimed San Antonio chef shells out deals during Lobster Week event. For the first time in three years, enterprising chef Jason Dady is kicking off Lobster Week at three of his restaurants. From July 26 to August 4, guests can enjoy a four-course shellfish feast at Tre Trattoria, Jardin, and Range for an affordable price.
5. San Antonio neighbor leads U.S. in housing and cost of living, says report. Texans looking for their next apartment or house to rent have many options to choose from, but only one city tops RentCafe's annual ranking of the cities with the best balance of housing and cost of living: San Marcos. It ranked No. 55 overall in RentCafe's "Best Cities for Renters to Live in" report.
