1. Beloved Houston pizza chain to make San Antonio debut on North Side. A Houston-area pizza chain is slicing into San Antonio’s dining scene. Pepperoni’s Pizza will open its first Alamo City outpost in the Bulverde Crossing shopping center early this year.
2. Dave's Hot Chicken spreads San Antonio wings with first Schertz eatery. Uber-popular chain Dave’s Hot Chicken has spread its wings to Schertz. The booming franchise quietly debuted its third area restaurant during a “secret soft opening” on January 8.
3. Chef Geronimo Lopez parts ways with Hotel Emma amid Pearl transitions. Another big change is coming to the Pearl. Hotel Emma executive chef Geronimo Lopez is departing the property to take on a new leadership role at the San Antonio Food Bank.

4. Costco slates opening date for first New Braunfels store. Comal County’s long-awaited first Costco is opening in April, bringing approximately 158,000 square feet of party-sized charcuterie, giant tubs of peanut butter pretzels, and those famous $1.50 hot dogs.
5. Popular froyo chain to open first San Antonio shop near Stone Oak. Upscale frozen dessert chain 16 Handles is starting 2026 with a nationwide expansion, including its first Alamo City shop, expected to arrive late summer near Stone Oak.
