1. Beloved San Antonio steakhouse closes after nearly 60 years Another vintage San Antonio steakhouse has folded up its checkered tablecloths. The Hungry Farmer Steakhouse at 7015 I-35 Access Rd. has closed following the late September death of its last remaining founder, Jack Garrahan.

Alzer's Roastery — a one-stop shop for coffee, nuts, and sweets — has opened at 9871 I-10 W.

4. Austin bakery chain makes San Antonio debut near Alamo Heights The scent of freshly baked bread will once again fill the former Twin Sisters Bakery & Cafe space. Austin-based mini-chain Swedish Hill is opening its first San Antonio location in the Sunset Ridge shopping center at 6322 N. New Braunfels Ave. near Alamo Heights.
5. New San Antonio bar to take over former Amp Room space A new bar is taking over the former Amp Room space at 2407 N. St. Mary’s St., but the details remain a mystery. La Descarga has filed state regulatory paperwork for the property, which may bring live music back to the shuttered space.
