Workout giant Crunch Fitness flexes massive new San Antonio gym

International fitness chain Crunch Fitness is pumping up its San Antonio presence with a giant new gym in the H-E-B Center at 1339 SW Loop 410. The upcoming fitness facility will bring red light therapy, saunas, and a floor filled with state-of-the-art cardio and strength training machines when it opens in the fall.
The $10 million, 54,000-square-foot fitness center, dubbed Crunch Westlakes, will offer a diverse suite of workout options. Among the services offered will be personal training, spin classes, yoga, and high-intensity interval training in a turf-lined zone.
After breaking a sweat, gym-goers can recover with hydrotherapy massage or catch a glow in a tanning bed. Guests can also take advantage of babysitting services and contemporary locker rooms with showers.
One of the nation's largest fitness chains, Crunch is known for its "no judgments" approach to working out. Unlike bodybuilding-focused brands like Gold's Gym, the franchise aims to help San Antonians of all fitness levels reach their fitness goals.
The Westakes gym is owned by Austin franchise company The Undefeated Tribe, which owns 31 Crunch centers in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri. This will be the sixth San Antonio fitness center for the firm.
"We are so excited to bring the Crunch Fitness Brand to Marbach Road and offer outstanding and affordable fitness to the surrounding community," says Undefeated Tribe founder Tony Hartl in a release. "With world-class equipment and amenities, round-the-clock hours, and memberships that start at $9.99 per month, we can't wait to open our doors to San Antonio residents."
Although the basic rate hovers under $10, members are subject to taxes and fees. Rates are also lower if prospects make a 12-month commitment, and upgraded memberships with access to classes require an additional cost.
The first 500 members to join Crunch Westlakes will only fork over a $1 enrollment fee and get the first month free. The promotion also gets early adopters a complimentary hour-long personal training session and swag like a gym bag, water bottle, and t-shirt.
