If you’re hunting for a job that offers awesome benefits and perks, then you might want to check out San Antonio-based financial services giant USAA.
Glassdoor, which publishes employees’ reviews of employers, has named USAA one of the top 20 employers providing benefits “that go beyond the basics and enter legendary status.” Glassdoor singled out USAA for its 401(k) program, which gives an 8 percent match to employee participants, compared with the U.S. average of 6 percent.
In praising USAA, Glassdoor cited this review from a USAA software developer: “Excellent culture and environment where they truly care about serving the members and finding new innovative ways every year to make their lives easier. Great benefits, work-life balance, and excellent coworkers to work alongside.”
USAA is one of the largest employers in San Antonio, with about 17,000 local employees, according to the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation. Annual revenue of the Fortune 500 company exceeds $24 billion.
In 2016, USAA ranked 36th on Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. A survey commissioned by Fortune found that 92 percent of USAA employees graded their workplace as great. Among the USAA employee perks mentioned by Fortune are telecommuting, onsite childcare, compressed workweeks, and college tuition reimbursement.
Glassdoor put two other Texas-based employers on its 2017 list of the top 20 for benefits and perks: Austin-based Whole Foods Market and Dallas-based Southwest Airlines. Glassdoor highlighted the 20 percent store discount for all full-time and part-time employees of Whole Foods and access to the Clear Skies employee assistance program for all workers at Southwest and their dependents.
