San Antonio Airport clears path for new nonstop flights to Toronto

Air Canada is adding a direct route from San Antonio to Toronto.
Big news for jetsetters: San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is about to make trips to Canada a whole lot easier. Starting in May 2026, Air Canada will launch a brand-new nonstop route to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
The new stop will be SAT's 10th international destination and the only Canadian route. Still, Toronto is one of North America's most dynamic cities, sure to be traveled by vacationers wanting to check out the city's rich cultural scene and Spurs fans who haven't gotten over Kawhi Leonard ditching San Antonio for the Raptors.
The flights will depart at 10:30 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and arrive in Canada shortly after 3 pm, making it simple to plan a long weekend getaway or a midweek business trip. Passengers will fly on Air Canada's newish A220 aircraft, which bucks the industry trend by providing wider seats, more legroom, and ample storage space.
Air Canada is the country’s largest carrier, serving more than 180 airports worldwide across six continents. Its Aeroplan loyalty program lets travelers cash in (or rack up) points with a massive partner network, and Air Canada Vacations sweetens the deal with packages that bundle flights, hotels, cruises, and more.
The airline is also part of the Star Alliance network, which includes United. United Airlines MileagePlus membership comes with a variety of perks, from priority boarding to club access.
The new route comes as SAT bets big on growth with a $2.5 billion terminal expansion. The airport is still charging ahead with the terminal and a revamp of its dining options despite a 2.4 percent dip in passenger numbers during the first half of 2025.
“With this new nonstop connection, we look forward to continuing to foster relationships between our two communities and throughout Canada,” said San Antonio City Manager Erik Walsh, in a press release. “We would like to thank Air Canada for today’s announcement and their investment in our growing region.”
