Popular chain Teriyaki Madness bowls over San Antonio with new location

Teriyaki Madness is opening another location in San Antonio.
Popular bowl chain Teriyaki Madness is expanding its San Antonio footprint with a new location at 18410 Hwy. 281 #106, according to state records. The storefront will feed San Antonio's craze for new pan-Asian offerings and quick-service cuisine.
Per a new filing at the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), construction of the new outlet will begin in July. The location in The Legacy Shops will be near other quick-service concepts like Wayback Burgers and Pho Nguyen.
The chain was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003. Brothers Rod and Alan Arreola and cousin Eric Garma went to college in Seattle, Washington, where teriyaki was on every corner, and hoped to popularize the style nationwide. The concept is now one of the quickest-growing quick-service restaurants in the United States.
Promo materials for Teriyaki Madness say the chain sets itself apart from competitors like Panda Express by using fresh ingredients instead of frozen. Though teriyaki is in the name, the concept serves other Japanese favorites like chicken katsu and yakisoba and American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken.
Teriyaki Madness first entered San Antonio's market in 2022 and currently operates two locations at 12822 W. I-10 #206 and 3138 SE Military Dr. #101. The company website touts two other stores in development at TX-151 and Alamo Ranch Parkway.
TDLR paperwork indicates that the Highway 281 location will finish construction in October. Although that's no exact indication of an opening date, locals can reasonably expect a debut by the end of the year.
