OPENING ALERT
Fast-casual Mediterranean chain opens first San Antonio cafe

Taziki's focuses on healthful Mediterranean fare.
After almost a year of anticipation, fast-casual Mediterranean chain Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe is finally making its San Antonio debut. The restaurant will bring gyros and fresh salads to 22103 Bulverde Rd #104 near Encino Park when it opens on Tuesday, October 7.
"Countdown is on, Encino Park," announced the restaurant via Facebook. "We officially open October 7 and can't wait to serve this amazing community fresh, feel-good Mediterranean food!"
The opening was first teased in December 2024 when the Birmingham, Alabama-based franchise filed project paperwork with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The concept was founded by Amy and Keith Richards, who became enchanted with the cuisine after a visit to Greece.
The menu is broadly Mediterranean, featuring harissa chicken, lamb, and falafel gyro sandwiches, and entrées with grilled meats and rice. The dips, served with pita, include tzatziki (spelled "taziki," naturally), hummus, and whipped feta. The chain used to sneak in some Southern hospitality via pimento cheese, but that seems to have been 86ed from the offerings.
The spot also serves a lamb burger on a toasted Kaiser bun, a grilled veggie plate, and various small plates for kids. Desserts like baklava come courtesy of Florida's Hellas Bakery.
Prices are generally affordable, with salads going for $10 and gyros ranging from $10 to $13. They also offer daily features, including a special Taziki's pasta on weekends, Friday-Sunday, featuring penne with grilled chicken for $11.
Taziki's stands out in the market by being more transparent with its sourcing, listing the farms and suppliers it works with on its website. It is also one of the more responsible players in the nation's fast-casual scene, earning REAL certification from the United States Healthful Food Council.
